On May 29th, 2004, CPR steam locomotive 2816 returned to her home town of Montreal. Like so many times throughout the 1930’s and 40’s, 2816 raced the varnish across the Winchester Subdivision ending her run near the companie’s former head offices at Windsor Station in Montreal. Famed contributor to many Canadian rail publications and editor of the CRHA’s monthly magazine, Stan J. Smaill recounts the history of this landmark locomotve. From the MLW erecting hall to her victorious return and two week visit to her birth city.
